My work is an investigation into blogging as a public act and aspects of the private in performative gesture using a stills camera and performance as process and tool for blogging. This inquiry considers the performative qualities in weblogs and maintaining live and camera based performance as valid forms of blogging, outside of the virtual arena.
The work has expanded to incorporate an understanding of the performative nature of blogging through developing processes and mechanisms for blogging outside of the virtual arena. The wearable desk, allows for blogging to be performed anywhere, it is an utilitarian device for blogging, just like the one-person-band it can be taken anywhere, and is both the spectacle and the instrument for an act of performance.

Documentation via stills from the camera are used as the primary source and content for this blog. It is also important to note a connection between the blog and the performance with the space; Seedling art space was once an experimental orchard used to try out fruit varieties not found in S.A at the beginning of the 20th century. Whilst also trialing fruit specimens, chemicals such as pesticides and fertilizers were used as part of the experiments and the old space where this gallery runs from was this orchards office.
This juxtaposition between my outdoor office and the old orchard office with ‘indoor’ art allows for an interesting discourse between the two different spaces.
